Mother Dear's Summer Camp

Mission for Summer Camp’s is one in the same as former First Lady, Laura Bush, seeing that “No Child Is Left Behind” and Mother Dear’s motto: “Destiny makes us brothers. If you lift somebody up as you go up, we’ll all rise together."

At Mother Dear’s Community Center Summer Camp, we begin by creating a safe and well-supervised environment with volunteer staff that brings their own expertise, passion, enthusiasm and energy to help stimulate and encourage the campers. We know the uniqueness of each camper and their individual ability to advance academically at a pace that matches their own capability.

Our camp ratio of staff to campers is 1:3. Campers are exposed to a diversity of people and cultures during our inner-city and out of town travels. Our camp program make children aware of better choices and opportunities in life that are available to them rather than the ones they are faced with every day in their home and community that leads to violence, brokenness and no hope.

We offer campers a balanced program with fun activities and an academic curriculum that builds reading, mathematics and writing skills. Other subjects include creative and essay writing, public speaking, music, dance, drama, sewing, arts and crafts, mentoring and leadership skills.

Summer Camp at Mother Dear’s is a unique experience, in which new and former campers remember their summer with us as one of the best times in their lives.

We thank our many sponsors who help take children off the street this summer and place them in a safe and structured program that will help shape and build character, teach moral standards, strengthen academic skills and offer opportunities and hope. The cost to sponsor one child is $600.
